Greek-turkey relations have been in deep contradiction for such a long time in history that stepping into new century, they were also inflicted by the Cyprus problem and Aegean Sea issues and even went into the edge of war. However in 1990s, policy-makers of these two countries had wisely sensed the changes of international political structure and decisively began to alleviate the tensions. At the same time,"earthquake diplomacy"provided a hard-won opportunity for a comprehensive reconciliation. The bilateral relations started a thawing, ending a long time's confrontation and entering the new age of conciliation and cooperation. These changes can be manifested in the following aspects: Firstly, with the continuous high-level talks, a successive of treaties have been signed with consideration of mutual benefits. Secondly, trade and investment have vigorously developed and the economic ties have become increasingly interconnected. Thirdly, non-governmental exchange and cooperation have been greatly encouraged. Cooperation projects guided by two people have brought two countries even closer. Fourthly, public opinion towards each other becomes friendlier than before. While we see the sound aspects, we should also be warned that the improvements were limited to the low-level politic areas. Cyprus problem and Aegean Sea issues, the core for hindering bilateral relations, haven't been solved yet which duly resulted to the heavy tasks for these two countries. There is before them a heavy responsibility and a long way to go. Throughout the thesis, the author takes the approaches of history analyzing and dynamic studies to research on the problems existed in and compromise made by these two countries, while at the same time he gives some evaluation on the status quo and prediction for the future.
