Harmonious Society Citizen Consciousness

The concept "strengthening the education of civic awareness"was first put forward in the 17th National People's Congress of Communist Party, which is a significant decision made from fundamental reality and political socialization of China, it is the inevitable requirement for building a harmonious society and realizing human beings'development in an all-round way."Civic awareness"proposed in the political report by Congress of Party Representatives fully demonstrates the importance and urgency of cultivating civic awareness in China.Since People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, especially since Chinese government carried out the"reform and opening up"policy in 1978, the level of civic awareness in our country has been elevated to a large extent, however, due to the restriction of various factors, it doesn't develop very rapidly, presenting a picture in which advantages and deficiency coexists. On the whole, lack of civic awareness is still the potential factor which is restricting China's economic and social development. Especially the important proposition of harmonious society has urged citizens to possess the corresponding social awareness. As a part of social awareness, civic awareness plays a basic and fundamental role in the whole social awareness, cultivation of which has become a special and indispensable task to build a harmonious society. Because building a harmonious society is finally to rely on active participation of all citizens, only if most citizens take part in it actively and effectively, can a harmonious society be built smoothly. Civic awareness is the premise to guarantee citizens to participate in building a harmonious society actively and effectively. The current reality is the lack of civic awareness, which has become a big obstacle to a harmonious society. The subject has been put before us urgently which includes how to face the task of building a harmonious society, to establish a cultivation system for civic awareness that is in conformity with it and to realize harmonious development of the others, society and nature while fulfilling citizen's self-development.This thesis which indicates the reality of civic awareness, principles and objectives of cultivating it and points out a path to cultivate civic awareness in a harmonious society by the means of probing into the intrinsic value and construction of civic awareness, classifying Marxist ideology of citizen education and analyzing logic relationship between civic awareness as well as harmonious society possesses a significant meaning in deepening understanding of civic awareness in a harmonious society and investigating how to cultivate the citizen education system with Chinese characteristics.
