The Phenomenon Of Contemporary Youth Religious Beliefs

When it comes to the 21thcentury, religious faith of Chinese adolescents is rising quickly, especially on western parts of China. Paying close attention to the religious faith of Chinese adolescents, commanding the present situation of religious faith on the part of western adolescents, analyzing the causes and probing into the influence of religious faith on adolescents will contribute a lot to the healthy growth of adolescents and accord development of China.Through investigating and studying the adolescents' religious faith of 12 provinces of western China by applying Ethics, study of religion, Sociology, Psychology, etc, this paper aims at analyzing the complicated causes and the influences of adolescents' indulgence in religious faith and then puts forwards some suggestions. The main conclusion of this study is: 21.7% of the adolescents clearly show their religious faith which is characteristic of complexion of the religious group, self-regard and blindness of religious motivation, according to a sample survey on the adolescents of western China. The causes for adolescents' religious faith are mainly outer factors such as social and environmental home and abroad, composite economic development, some social problems, national tradition, unusual families, lack of schooling as well as ones' inner factors. By a comparison on the thoughts and behaviors between religious' adolescents and non-religious' ones, this paper is to identify the positive influences of religious faith on adolescents'moral consciousness and moral behavior as well as negative ones on world view, view of life and values, which deserves the attention of the whole society.Studies have shown that the phenomenon of today's adolescents' indulgence in religious belief represents an emotion and affection need, so when faced with the growing religious faith of the adolescents, we should on the one hand, have to strengthen the educational effectiveness of Marxism believes, religions ideas and school ideology and politics; on the other, set up a all-wave trinity educational mechanism, namely:school-family-society to improve the humanistic care on adolescents, pay special attention to adolescents'mental health education and guide social practice of them and therefore culturing a new generation which are healthy, free and fully developed.
