The Chinese educated urban youth ' history was known as the longest officially organized mass movement history since the establishment of PRC. Early in the 1970s, some scholars abroad had already begun to study the phenomenon of Chinese educated urban youth working in the countryside when the domestic research in the field was still a blank. The review and reflection of the educated youth history were mainly manifested in the form of documentary literatures and the study has not started until the late 1980s. With the "educated youth fever" phenomenon, the study had reached a small wave in 1990, then became stable since 2000.Up to now, the research on educated youth history has achieved great accomplishment, including documentary literatures, academic books and papers, etc. We should re-organize, analyze and summarize the existing achievements systematicaly and comprehensively from historical perspective. Not only can it provide very important academic value to make further studies, but also unify our thinking which enables us to deeply understand the lines, principles and policies of our Party in new time, thus further deepen the understanding of constructing the road of socialism with Chinese characteristic. In this sense, the research has strong practical significance.As a summary, this thesis includes four sections: the preface, text, conclusion, and references. The main body of the thesis adopts the method of vertical and horizontal combination. The contents are divided into three parts chronologically, then it summarizes the characteristics of the overall study in each stage, and sorts out the relevant research results. In 1980s, domestic research on the history of educated youth was still at a starting stage,there were few research results. Therefore, this article focuses on the research situation after the 90's, each part firstly introduces representative books and thesises that have certain academic weight or historical value in the period then classifies and comments on theoretical research. In the conclusion part, the thesis summarizes the general features of the research on history of educated youth until now, and points out the deficiencies and the direction to be done. Finally, the thesis put forward to the future combining with favorable conditions for domestic research on history of educated youth.
