In the Numerous subjeces of interest, nation and ethnic group are undoubtedly the most important ones. The relationship between National interest and Ethnic interest not only affect the national identity of each ethnic group of Nation-state, but also affect the process of modernization of every nation.Nation-state is sovereign state which established on the national identity of each ethnic group.Nation-state has been the most basic state forms of the world. The basic feature of Nation-state is that coordinated and consistent relationship between nation and ethnic group has formed, which means that each ethnic group regards the nation as Indemnification of its interest. Therefore, how to coordinate the relationship between ethnic interest and the national interest is a fundamental problem that Nation-state has to face.Modernization has become an inevitable trend of the world development. It has been an inevitable choice for each nation and ethnic group who wants to survive and develop in the globalizational world. In other words,realizing modernization itself has become interest for each nation and ethnic group.In Nation-state,Modernization of the whole nation is the support and security for each ethnic group's Modernization; otherwise, each ethnic group's Modernization is the most important part of the whole nation's Modernization.China is a unified multi-ethnic country. The establishment of the People's Republic of China marked that China has been a modern Nation-state. The interests of all ethnic group has unified. However, each ethnic group in China has a long history, so their traditional folk forms and ethnic culture has been retained relatively intact. Coupled with the conflicts of interests between various ethnic groups in reality, The national identitu of various ethnic groups are affected. In the process of modernization, due to various factors of history and reality, economic development in minority areas generally lag behind eastern coastal region. The contradiction between minorities and Han has increasrd,which affects the national unity and political stability. Summing up the appeal, we should attach much importance to the relationship between National interest and Ethnic interest.This paper makes interest as entry point to explore how to coordinate the relationship between National interest and Ethnic interest in the process of modernization. Firstly, we define the concent of our National interest and Ethnic interest at present stage, and study the theory and practice of other multi-ethnic countries in coordinating the relationship.Secondly, we use historical method to investigate the development process of mutual integration and interdependence between National interest and Ethnic interest of China. From the angle of historical experience, I demonstrate that national interest is the result of merging the various national interests, and it also provides protection for Safeguarding and realizing various national interests.Last but not the least, I demonstrate that national interest is supreme, at the same time,I pointe out that in the pursuit of national interest,we should safeguard the rights and interests of minorities.
