Mission of higher education is to provide high-level talents necessary for social development. With great changes, both modern society characterized by economic globalization and science and technology cored by information and biological technology have high demands for higher education. Higher education should add new innovative functions and train talents suitable for globalization based on the demand of knowledge and economic globalization so that university curriculum adapt to demands of information technology development.To meet demands for economic and social development in new century. Shaanxi Province as a big province in west, shoulders the important mission of cultivating all-round talents. By studying 25 colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province and analyzing the Status of Physical Education College in these college, this paper finds that there are many problems in physical education all over universities in Shaanxi Province and it proposes feasible measures and recommendations to provide a theoretical and practical basis for healthy development of physical education of colleges in Shaanxi Province. The paper surveys and analyzes Status of Physical Education in 25 universities and colleges in Shaanxi Province by means of literature review, questionnaire, expert interviews, statistics and logical analysis and other research methods and the results show that:1. The age distribution is relatively even, despite transition of old and young teachers, the PE teachers tend to be younge.2. In light of academic requirements for PE teachers in universities and colleges in Shaanxi Province, the proportion of doctorate degree in PE teacher is too low or even zero in some universities and colleges, therefore PE teachers in Shaanxi colleges and universities do not meet new requirements.3. Shaanxi province, an associate professor of PE teachers in universities and colleges higher proportion of the national average, and the proportion of professor than the national average ratio is slightly lower;4. The physical skills of PE teachers in universities and colleges are in balance as a whole, but teachers for swimming, aerobics, dance and martial arts are fewer, it is bound to affect expansion and development of physical skills in PE class. 5. Due to rising number of students resulted from enrollment expansion, the workload of teachers constantly increasing. Some teachers even work more than 570 hours and their tasks are far beyond requirements in School PE Teaching Rules.6. Compared with the number of students, PE teacher in universities and colleges in Shaanxi Province apparently are fewer in number, and male PE teachers are about 2.6 times as much as female PE teachers so their number is imbalanced.7.The teaching materials used by colleges and universities in Shaanxi province are characterized by diversity and complex structures. The teaching materials are at different levels and in different forms. Most schools can incorporate their innovative ideas based on reality of students.8.The arrangement of physical education course is reasonable in universities and college in Shaanxi and each college has distinctive arrangement, but the actual hours of teaching are too limited to meet needs of students.9. Physical education teachers and students of the school sports theory class situation is slightly different formulation,46.1% of the students that did not attend theory classes. Teacher in physical theory course content, teaching arrangements and the needs of the students have a certain bias.10. Arrangement of practice in PE class is too limited to meet interests of students. Although all universities and colleges have prepared basketball, Pingpong and aerobic and most have volleyball, soccer and martial arts, the traditional projects such as track and field, gymnastics and modern projects are very rare.11. The assessment methods on students are limited and teachers are the only main body for such assessment and they outweigh results over process. Even if the evaluation is basically comprehensive, the distinction of students is neglected.12. Due to a serious lack of sports fields and equipment, needs of physical education can not be met.
