School Motto Cognitive Investigation And The Dusing Measures Anti-trial

University motto is a specific reflection of university school-running conception and school characteristic. It displays university spirit, leads all the teachers'and students'behavior, expresses school core values intuitively. Motto has emblematical function, oriented function, edificatory function, spread function, stimulant function, and so on. Motto is an important part of school culture. Formulating motto and managing motto is a ring of school management that cannot be ignored.The author interpreted the conception and the essence of motto. In the basis of collecting and studying many mottos, the author analyzed motto characteristic and motto function. We believe that the motto is the soul of a university, reflects education philosophy and university spirit, guides the schooling aim, improves teachers'and students'moral cultivation, influnces behavior of every man in university patiently. University motto is clear in language, with abundant moral intension. It reflects excellent culture and characteristics of the times, highlights the school characteristics. University motto also has several functions, including sign function, directive function, influence function, disseminative function, stimulant function and united function.The author chose 12 key universities in Shandong province in order to focus on searching students'motto understanding situation and motto implementation, by giving questionnaires to some freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors in these universities. Through analyzing investigation results, We found that most undergraduates could recognized their university mottos, but they knew little about it. A lot of students believed that university mottos should be created by teachers and students together. Some universities realized the importance of motto and organized activities to propagate it, but motto functions still never be operated well.Accordingly, we gave suggestions about motto administration and motto implementation. First, a good motto is a good beginning. Second, motto propaganda and motto education is the core ring. The last but not the least, put mottos into practice is the key.
