Study On The Integrity Culture In University Motto

The university motto is simple and popular, but it also has profound cultural connotation and significance. It summarized the concept and spirit of the university with simple words. It is also an important part of university culture and humanistic spirit. China is actively building the integrity of society. In the core values of Chinese socialism, integrity is regarded as the moral requirements of individual citizens. It is also the basic requirements for the school ethos. Colleges hope to help teachers and students to form good faith values through some cultural earriers. Through combing the university motto, it found that many colleges take honesty as the content written into the university motto, it plays the value-leading role. However, this is only a small part of the integrity culture in the university motto. Finding this culture and its context, it will be of great significance to enhance the value identity and cultural confidence.Based on the systematical analysis of the ordinary university mottos, in the first part, this paper demonstrates the forming reasons of the integrity culture in the university mottos. The essence of university motto is the spiritual culture, it is the choice of some values. On the one hand, integrity culture can be the source of its culture, on the other hand, it also fits with some values of university motto.The second part, this paper is an empirical study of integrity culture in the university motto from two aspects of quantity and content. There are two types of integrity culture in the university motto, the hidden integrity culture is the main body among them. And its content is mainly reflected in the two aspects of learning and morality. It has the characteristics of large scale and multi levels.The third part, this paper explores the educational path of integrity culture in the university motto based on the functions of university. In the teaching process, colleges should find the integrity culture in the university motto through the research of the theory and history, then let the teachers and students know it through combining specialty feature and curriculum. Colleges need to promote this culture through a number of platforms, for example, the campus landscape, campus media and intercollegiate cooperation, in order to make more people accept its educational effect. Finally, it needs some practical forms to make the educational effect carry out in the actions.
