In advance of the new curriculum, scientific inquiry has attracted more and more attention and it is being widely applied to chemistry classroom teaching in high school. However, the characteristics and shortcomings in the use process is a question which deserves studying and this can help teachers to promote scientific inquiry. Therefore ,it is necessary to analyze the use of the scientific inquiry in chemistry classroom teaching in high school.This article contains four chapters ,which analyzes and explores the scientific inquiry in chemistry classroom teaching from the angle of case study.In the first section, it expounds the practical significance of the study, according to the requirement of curriculum reform, the analyses of the situation of chemistry classroom teaching and the achievements both at home and abroud in the field of scientific inquiry.The second section starts with the definition of scientific inquiry , its basic process,and its scientific methods , making people have a better understanding of it.It also explains that there are eight key elements in its process:raising a question , conjecture and assumptions , working out a plan, carrying out the experiment , gathering evidence, interpretation and conchesions,self-examination and evaluation, expression and communication.Then it introduces the research methods and analyzes the 40 teaching cases according to the 8 elements above for the purpose of leaving the situation of its use.The third chapter is the key part of this article,which nighlights the content of each element, analyses its use in classroom teaching,shares its practical experience and comes up with the suggestions for its application.The last part states the characteristics and problems of scientific inquiry in chemistry classroom teaching.It also points out that teachers don't pay attention to rasing questions,overlook the students'self-examination and evaluation.All these give the teachers directions for further teaching.The aims of the paper are as follows . One is to let teachers have a better understanding of scientific inquiry . The others is to provide a reference of its application,which is beneficial to advancing the scientific inquiry.As a result,it will charge the students'ways of learning completely.
