Colleges and universities are cradle for training high-quality talents, and the oneof the bases for developing competitive sports. At present, competitive sportscollegilization has become a new trend in the development of competitive sports.Making colleges and universities as the important bases for the development ofcompetitive sports, some of the world’s sports developed countries has gainedsuccessful experience, wherein some western countries with the United States as therepresentative, have trained a large number of top performances in competitive sports,top cultural-quality elite athletes. Previous U.S. Games athletes, more than90%camefrom college students whose sports technology level represented the highest level ofthe State Sports. Learning from the successful experience of foreign countries andpromoting the cause of the rapid development of Yunnan College Competitive Sport,it is necessary to strengthen and improve the cultivation and management of the pacein terms of university athletes.In1986, the former National Sports Commission and the former State Board ofEducation held meeting and developed measures for regular college to run pilothigh-performance sports teams, which opened up a new way for traininghigh-performance athletes in China, started the strategic objective of China CollegeCompetitive Sport heading to the World University Games and served the OlympicGold Medal Strategy. According to the2012"On accomplishing in2012colleges anduniversities to recruit high-performance athletes inform," issued by the GeneralOffice of the Ministry of Education, it was informed that until January2012, theschools approved by the Ministry of Education to recruit high-performance athletesreached272. College development of competitive sports will be the inevitable trendof China’s Sports Development.Adopting literature method, expert investigation method, mathematical statisticsmethod and other research methods, four university athletes in Yunnan Province asthe research object, this paper carried out a survey analysis of university athletes intraining and management situation in Yunnan Province, and on this basis tried to find out the influencing factors of the culture and management of university athletes inYunnan Province and proposed appropriate measures and development mode. Theresults showed that:1. Yunnan University Athletic Teams were in the downstreamlevel of the country’s universities, hardly any advantageous projects except the trackand field events.2. Yunnan university athletes exercise level was relatively low,students sources were single, mostly from the Yunnan local high school graduates,and fewer projects.3. Single channel of funding, shortage of funds, and lessinvestment.4. Yunnan Higher Education high-level athletes in training and themanagement system were not perfect; sports team building was not on a scale. As forathletes training mode, Yunnan higher education schools used self-managementtraining mode with single training mode; as for the athlete management mode,schools had different management modes, such as Yunnan Normal University usinglearning focus mode, Yunnan University using training focus supplemented bytraining. There was a big gap between Yunnan Higher Education on the cultivationand management of high-performance athletes and China’s high-performanceathletes’ target. The factors affecting the development of the high-performanceathletes in Yunnan Province are many like athletes factors, training and managementfactors, learning and training relationship factors, material security factors. For therapid development of the Yunnan Province background, the university athletes shouldset about the following aspects:1. Increasing capital investment, expansion offunding sources of high-performance athletes.2. Opening up students channels,expanding the scope of enrollment.3. Continuing to solve the contradiction betweenlearning and training to provide the athletes with a sufficiently relaxed environment tostudy and train.4. Standardizing and improving the cultivation and managementsystem of high-performance athletes, overall planning sports with key pointshighlighted.5. Training high-performance coaches team to solve the worries of ashortage of coaches, while increasing the chances of athletes. Based on large amountsof data and detailed information, own proposals and views are put forward, in order toachieve the purpose for offering reference for sustainable development of Yunnanuniversity high-performance athletes.
