In this paper, using the method of literature, expert interviews, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics, logical analysis and other research methods, from fifteen universities in Henan province sports education professional experts, teachers and students as the research object, the current situation of sport in Colleges and universities in Henan province gymnastics compulsory course are analyzed. Conclusions of the study are as follows:(1) the teaching condition:only40%of the15colleges of Henan province with physical education college facilities can meet the requirements of gymnastics teaching, often use of multimedia teaching means teachers accounted for only4%.(2) the status quo of the teachers:the overall age structure, title structure of colleges and universities in Henan province gymnastics required course for teachers is reasonable, but the large gender gap, the low proportion of female teachers; graduate gymnastics teacher qualifications ratio showed a rising trend year by year; gymnastics teachers have high level referees, technology the proportion of too few gymnastics; teachers opportunities to further their study is limited.(3):gymnastics teaching status of Physical Education Specialty in Henan province compulsory course for every university teaching contents and teaching hours and there is a big gap in technology and theory. In gymnastics teaching process according to the student body on the basis of group teaching rarely, form of organization is not flexible. Teaching methods are mostly speak with practice, some teachers use the heuristic method of teaching. The examination content mainly quality training and athletics gymnastics. Only18%of the teachers’attention to the evaluation of students’practical ability, lack of process evaluation.(4) the student status:poor students physical quality, little contact with the beginning of gymnastics, gymnastics course in senior high school, so some students learn gymnastics courses very difficult. Most of the students master the knowledge of professional theory is better, but the technical level of only60%students meet the teaching requirements.(5) influencing factors:main factors affecting Henan province gymnastics compulsory course for college physical education majors are:teaching content and method, teaching hours, less equipment conditions, the employment situation is grim, the student physical quality, teachers’ teaching level and teaching ability, the leadership of the gymnastics attention degree, assessment and evaluation method, gymnastics project characteristics. On the basis of the Henan province Gymnastics Professional College Physical Education Courses Development Suggestions:(1) to strengthen the construction of teachers’team gymnastics;(2) expand the training goal of gymnastics course for physical education specialty;(3) to strengthen the research on the new curriculum standards of primary and secondary schools, to develop in gymnastics teaching of physical education according to the demand of changes in primary and secondary schools;(4) ensure the gymnastics teaching, increase the gymnastics equipment funds.
