| With the rapid development of domestic market economy, Urban and rural modernization is accelerated. Surplus labor force in countryside went to city in a large scale to pursue urban interests and escape from rural poverty, which has become important way for countryman to be wealthy. The phenomenon has also resulted into the emergence of leftover children. As lack of parents’ caring and the family warm, leftover children live unhealthy life, as a result, they are not in a good state to study and their academic record is declining. There are58million leftover children in China, And Chongqing takes up1.3million. Leftover children belong to the stage of compulsory education (6to16).As their father or mother works in the city, they are left in the Census register seat and looked after by relatives. Children of school age stage have to study in the countryside under the care of relatives or grandparents as their parents woke in the cities and the limit of the household registration system. However, there are lots of difficulties in studying for leftover children as a result of lacking caring of parents. The school itself can’t provide sufficient help for children, so what can do in the outside school? The key focus in this research is to help leftover children solve study problems, overcome difficulties and make a progress.There is no denying that the psychological, legal educational problem resulting from leftovers has become a focus concerned by social people. The existed research payed more attention to macro issues and ignored the micro research. In this study, on the basis of existed research, we went into primary level to learn about the living and learning environment and find out the characteristics of this phenomenon with the empirical research.In this study, we investigate and interview leftover children in Jiangfeng primary school of Youyang county, Chongqing city, and we divided the learning support system into the government, community, family and school from the perspective of state policy. In order to learn about the learning support system out of school, we explore the such support of outside school as hardware resources, social relations, professional guidance and cultural influence.Leftover children have difficulty in learning for the special growing environment. The researcher has stayed at Jiangfeng primary school for12days and investigated teachers and students to deeply learn about those children. According to the questionnaire survey, compared with the ordinary children, the leftover children suffer more anxiety and pressure on study, which cause such problems as poor study habits, unsuitable study approaches, and low study grades. We interviewed the families and community members to grasp the situation of learning support provided by governments, families and communities. The research shows that system and policy about leftover children made by schools and governments has increasing, however, leftover children get insufficient help from teachers, families and community. In this research, we find that the learning support system of outside school has been built, but it is not perfect and need to be improved with the help of government. |
