Research On Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Curriculum Design For Physical Education Major In Shanghai Normal University

Shanghai Normal University is one of the local key universities. Most students of physical education work as P.E teachers in primary and middle schools in Shanghai after graduation, which informs that Shanghai Normal University takes the burden of turning out P.E teachers for schools in Shanghai. Since the Second Curriculum reform in Shanghai, demands and requirements for P.E teachers are much higher than before and many graduated students cannot meet the latest criterion. In this paper, we do the research on the present condition of the curriculum provision for physical education students in Shanghai Normal University, and some suggestions for improvements are proposed. This paper takes four research methods:document-data method, questionnaire survey, interview and mathematical statistics. By doing the questionnaire survey on physical education major students of Shanghai Normal University who registered in2008,2009and2010respectively, we investigate and analyze the curriculum structure, the curriculum types and the curriculum problems for physical education major. By comparing the curriculum provision for physical education students in Shanghai Normal University with that of East China Normal University and Shandong Normal University, we get the following conclusions and suggestions:5.1In Shanghai normal university, the curriculum structure of the physical education mayor is mostly reasonable, but the period of the public compulsory is more and the period of the limited elective course is less.5.2In terms of the public compulsory, the students is satisfied with the significance or period or the semester opened of most courses. And the courses called college English and computer are more important, however, the period of college English and introduction to MAO Zedong thought and socialist theoretical system with Chinese characteristics is more, and the term opened of college English is earlier, the term opened of Basic Theory of Marxism is later. In terms of professional required courses, students think that basic gymnastics, martial arts, basketball, track and field sports, and School Physical Education are important, the rest are a little important except theory of physical education and sport and sports history. The period and term opened of the courses are reasonable, which can satisfy the needs of the students.5.3In terms of the limited elective course, students think that the skill class is more important than the subject course.The period of table tennis badminton, sports dance and subject course is just right and the period of basketball, volleyball, football, gymnastics, martial arts and aerobics is less. The term opened of most courses is right except that the term opened of table tennis badminton and Music and physical education is later. In optional elective course, most courses are important except Olympic movement, sports aesthetics, sports load test commonly used. The period and the term opened of all courses are just right.5.4Most courses are set up by the training objective of the mayor in addition to that sport history, theory of physical education and sport, music and physical education teaching make less contribution to the basic quality of talent cultivation, the core knowledge and core competence target.5.5The main problems in the current curriculum are that the species of practical courses are less, and the project is not complete. The period of the special class is less, which can’t meet the requirement of the teaching and training of primary and secondary schools. The second specialty courses are lacking. The curriculum is short of the school characteristics. Any elective course is short of new projects. Professional course hours are less, which can’t meet the needs of the teaching of primary and secondary schools.5.6Compared to Physical Education Specialty in other colleges, Our training target is specialized personnel while others are institutions cultivating talent. In proportion of public course credits, Shanghai Normal University is the highest. In professional courses, college general education courses as well as practical aspects of credit Shanghai Normal University is higher.In proportion of teacher education course credits Shanghai Normal University is lowest. The number of the skill class and subject course in Shanghai Normal University is much fewer than East China Normal University, Shandong Normal University and Fuji an Normal University. 6.1The development countermeasures about Shanghai normal university curriculum are that courses link up training objectives and content of the physical education in the middle and primary schools. We can enrich the category of elective series and increase class hours. The compulsory course must have certain autonomy. We can strengthen the construction of teaching staff and management, and constantly improve the teaching quality. We can cultivate students’ ability of autonomous learning by introverted outside class. We can strengthen the practice and enhance teachers’ quality and improve the practice ability.
