Working Memory is a limited-resource system, which is used to maintain andmanipulate our complex cognition and thinking information.Working Memoryspan, which is also called Working Memory capacity. Its size is otfen seen as animportant limitation on the ability of cognitive processing, which is an importantmeasure of working memory, and is a major aspect of the study of working memory.Inhibitory Control is defined as an individual’s ability to suppress irrelevant stimuliwhen they try to pursuit of cognitive representation objectives-Inhibitory Control as acore component of executive function, which is subject to researchers’ attention. It canbe used to explain the cognitive differences between individuals, such as perception, attention, memory, and reading comprehension. This study explored the the relationship of70Mentally Retarded children’sWorking Memory span and Inhibitory Control capabilities in order to providetheoretical guidance for the Mentally Retarded children’s cognitive research andeducational practice. The study concluded that:1.Overall,7-15years old Mentally Retarded children’s average scores onWorking Memory span and Inhibitory Control tasks increased with age.2.The10-12years of age group and13-15years of age group’s average scores arehigher than the7-9yea’rs of age groups significantly in the development of WorkingMemory span, but the10-12years of age group and13-15years of age group’saverage scores have no much differences.3.Theirverbal Working Memory span is lower than the remaining four WorkingMemory span significantly.4’.The7-9years of age groups average scores on Inhibitory Control tasks are lower th’an the10-12years of age groups significantly, there have no significant differencesbetween the10-12years of age group’s and13-15years of age group’s.5.In the development of two classes of Inhibition Control, they have no significantdifferences, means that they are at similar levels of the two classes of InhibitionControl.6.Thereare no significant differences between the sexes about five classes ofWorking Memory span and two classes of Inhibition Control.Either boys or girls haveconsiderable level of development of Working Memory span and Inhibition Control.7.MentallyRetarded Childre’ns Working Memory span is correlated with InhibitionControl significantly. There all have signiifcant positive correlation between the otherfour Working Memory span and two different Inhibition Control except hearingWorking Memory span and day-night Inhibition Control.8.MentallyRetarded Children’s Inhibitory Control tasks scores can be used topredict the performance of Working Memory.
