The Chinese aesthetic education has experienced a development processof ups and downs, which was consistent with the whole social history background ofChina. In early20th century when referred to the period from1900to1930in thisarticle, faced to the domestic strife and foreign aggression surroundings, Shanghai, asthe tip of the iceberg in Chinese aesthetic education research field, it played a“leader” role. Depending on this unique advantage of Shanghai so that there weremany outstanding pioneers of aesthetic education launched a series of meaningfulaesthetic education practices. Especially, the elementary school who bear theimportant role in these practices. So the author from the micro point of view start toresearch what the pioneers of aesthetic education performed specific measures inthe elementary school that found the development of the aesthetic education inShanghai. After collating and studying historical date of that period, the author foundthose specific measures which had been performed in elementary school already hasprovided the basic rudiment to how to practice the aesthetic education in school ofwhole China since modern times. But because of the complex and changeablebackground the performances of aesthetic education was limited in kinds ofsubjective and objective conditions so that it was hard to build the basic andcompleted system. In conclusion, the development of Shanghai aesthetic educationmade a big contribution to build up the Chinese aesthetic education system in early20th century. The author hope that through the study of this article, it can providefurther more specific references for the all-round development of Chinese aestheticeducation.
