Junior high school mathematical experiment is a practical activity designed to help students understand an abstract mathematical knowledge, test a mathematical conjecture, or solve a math problem, and students with the participation of mathematical thinking, using physical tools or mathematical software operation. It is a new way of teaching methods based on constructivism, situated cognition theory, cognitive development theory, and re-creation theory.This paper focuses on junior high school mathematical experiment, mainly discuss on four issues:Firstly, the theoretical study of junior high school mathematical experiment; Secondly, the current situation of junior school mathematical experiment; Thirdly, the design of junior high school mathematical experiment teaching; Fourthly, the study of types and cases of mathematical experiment. This article main uses literature analysis, investigation and case analysis. Theoretical analysis combined with teaching practice. Qualitative research combined with quantitative analysis.The mainly conclusions of the study are as follows:(1) The vast majority of teachers has some knowledge of mathematical experiment, but know not impressive enough. Teachers generally considered it is necessary to carry out the experimental teaching of mathematics, but few teachers carry out They tend to use teaching Geometer’s Sketchpad and Excel, for research ways of mathematical experiment teaching, they are more inclined to study independently.(2)The Students’attitudes towards mathematics experiment more positive. The participation and learning consequent are more optimistic, but most teachers believe that mathematical experiment is suitable for secondary students, then suitable for pool students.(3) Math teachers’experiment design capacity are generally low. There are no significant differences between male and female teachers, but there are significant differences between teachers of different seniority, and teachers in different regions.(4)The basic characteristics of junior high school mathematical experiment:the experimental tools are intuitive and rich, the experimental subjects are contextual and interesting, the process of experiment are operational and inquiry,the experimental results are explore and experiential, the students’thought is participatory and innovative. The junior high school mathematical experiment has many functions whether from the perspective of mathematics teaching or student development.(5) The steps of Junior high school mathematical experiment:determine the subject of experiment, clear the purpose of experiment, clear the preparation of experiment, expand the process of experiment, constantly revised and improved. The basic principles:combine the process and results, combine the operation and thinking, combine the experimental and demonstration, combine the proven and falsification. Types of junior high school mathematical experiment:physical-verification type, physical-understanding type, physical-exploratory type, technology-verification type, technology-verification type, technology-understanding type.
