To deeply analyze the current situation of summative evaluation of children’s development by kindergarten teachers, and to put forward some suggestions for improvement, the researcher conducted442children’s semester comments texts collected from34teachers of S kindergarten and a questionnaire survey of63teachers from four kindergartens. Results showed that, currently, kindergartens generally treat children’s semester comments as the main way of summative evaluation, but some teachers’purpose for writing children’s semester comments is unclear; teachers make their comments on the basis of all kinds of evidence when writing the semester comments, but lack of specific examples of children which can support their comments, at the same time, teachers’writing is work with formative assessment; the content in children’s semester comments is not comprehensive, and lack of personalized description of children; the language style wich is used in children semester comments is affable and euphemism, and tend to make positive judgment for children, the question is that they always directly using abstract judgments, but lacking specific instances of behavior description of children; teachers’s expectations for children is too high and fuzzy, which will hinder the realization of incentive purpose. Finally, researcher put forward some suggestions to improve the summative evaluation work wich is based on the semester comments as the core.
