The Current Situation, Problems And Reform Of The School Games In Jiangsu Province

The school sports meeting is an important content of school sports activities, and it is an important part of evaluation and testing of school sports work, the unfortunate reality is that at present a lot of elementary and secondary schools’sports meetings are still using the decades of years old routines and modes, the organizers’views and values have not been able to keep up with social development and the needs of students development, the settings of competitive events, organizational methods and management measures fall behind the practical demand. How to survey the current situation of elementary and secondary schools’sports meetings, and to find the existing problems from the angles of the present development of society, schools and students, and then provide reform suggestions for the elementary and secondary schools’sports meetings.This paper uses the methods of document literature, interviewing, text analysis, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, to carry out the investigation for49elementary and secondary schools’sports meetings competition rules and programs held from2012to2013in Jiangsu province.The survey found that the majority schools’regulations explicitly pointed out that the sports meetings is held to create a harmonious campus environment, promote students’physical health, cultivate students’interest in sports and students’sense of group honor, few schools are order to take the selection of sports talents, develop competitive sports, promote physical teachings and assessments and check the school sports work; In49surveyed schools,48schools held sports meeting once a year, only one school held twice a year; The duration of the meetings are mostly concentrated in1to2days; The hold season is in the spring and autumn; Most school sports events are given priority to track and field, some schools carry out interesting sports items and ball games; The scoring method has approximately the same with the IAAF regulated; Reward rankings focus on top six, or top eight; Reward modes adopt personal rewards and group rewards, including certificates and material rewards; Staff involved in the meet is given priority to with the teacher, the rate of the students in the competition only reaches20%to39%of the total.The survey also found that the primary and secondary schools’sports meetings in Jiangsu province have made a certain reform, but also existed some problems:the purpose of the school sports meeting regulation is difficult to implement in the sports events settings, mode of game, scoring methods; The number of sports meeting is fewer, the time arrangement is shorter and not reasonable, the practical participated students number decreased obviously; In order to improve the students’interest and participation, school added some events but the sports events setting is also single, mostly are normal track and field events, these events are lack of enjoyment, entertainment and participation; The spots meetings are not enough pay attention to the process, however, pay more attention to the results, the reward place centralized in the front top six or top eight, fewer rewards number; The reward way is on the basis of material rewards, looking down on spiritual awards; Method of the game, mostly is few elites participated; The teacher arranged all the way, and the students passively participated in; The way to participate in the sports meeting is single.On the basis of investigation and analysis of the49elementary and secondary schools’ sports meetings, the author puts forward the specific reform proposals:Change the concept of school sports meeting--break the bondage of traditional concept, really realize to take students as main participant, stimulate the enthusiasm of students, what make the sports meeting to be a game everyone involved.Set up reasonable competition items--school sports meeting should face all the teachers and students, should not only include some strong competitive, individual sports, also to set up some recreational, interesting and group sports. Stick to the combination of individual event and group event, interesting event and competitive event, in order to meet the needs of different students.Improve the way of participation in the sports meeting--students as the subjects of the games, is not only to be athletes to participate in the games, it should on this basis to express the students’creativity, enthusiasm, guide students to take charge the formulation of game rules, play the role of the referee, prepare sites and equipments and so on.Strengthen the scoring and evaluation of all staff participation--school sports meetings should change the practice relying on nothing more than a few "star" and the heroism idea, also should change the regular sporting meetings’elite scoring and evaluation, strengthen the whole students’participation, making sure that every student become the master of sports meetings.
