A Study On The Tourism Development Of Miao Traditional Sports In Southeast Guizhou

Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture is located in thesoutheast of Guizhou Province. It is a multi-ethnic region and is regarded as a leisuretourism resort with good ecological environment and humid climate. It is the largestsettlement of Miao nationality with a population of1.881million. Therefore, Miaoculture tourism occupies an important role in the national tourism. Miao tourism is thenecessity of developing diversified tourism in Qiandongnan even in the whole GuizhouProvince. However, due to the increasingly competitive tourism, the development ofMiao nationality tourism encounters bottleneck. On the other hand, traditional Miaosports is an important part in the Miao culture with colorful, rich and variedcharacteristics, whose inherent properties meet the demand of the transformation ofMiao nationality tourism. The present thesis begins with traditional Miao sports and itstourism development in Qiandongnan based on ethnology, sports, ethnic tourism, bytaking traditional Miao sports and the existing problems in sports tourism resources inthat region as the research subject. After studying relevant literature, accessing torelevant personage, feeling relevant culture personally on the scene, the present studydoes a research based on the collecting information. it reveals that Qiandongnan Miaoand Dong Autonomous Prefecture possesses rich and colorful resources of traditionalMiao sports. However, due to the changes of the society, the changes of the traditionalstyles of production and life in Miao villages and strong impact of other cultures,traditional Miao sports inheritance are facing fault age. The traditional sports activitiesgradually fade away. As a new opportunity for the continuation of traditional Miaosports activities, tourism development should become an important means for theexistence and development of traditional Miao sports. But the present fact is thattourism of traditional Miao sports in Qiandongnan is still in the exploratory stage ofdevelopment, there are a number of problems still. Some of the present problems areas follows:1．Restriction by the backward economy.2. Insufficient understandings ofthe traditional Miao sports tourism.3. The problems in the insurance of the quality ofsuch sports during tourism development. To improve the current situation of thetraditional Miao sports tourism in Qiandongnan, the present thesis proposes fiverecommendations:1. Attaching great importance to the development of traditional Miaosports tourism2. Opening some traditional Miao sports courses in school education toremain its cultural vitality.3. Integrating the cultural resources of Miao nationality, andbuilding a large-scale cultural recreational area of Miao nationality in Taijiang.4.Making full use of various media to advertise the traditional Miao sports, and building amystery sense on the brand of the Miao culture.5. Only preceding the tourismexploitation on the condition that the local ecological and tourism resources are under protection.
