The21st century is the century of the strong development of knowledge andeconomy, innovation with the knowledge and development of economy benefitedfrom such knowledge development, high-skill and high innovative capacity."DegreeRegulation of People’s Republic of China” clearly states, graduate students’dissertations require creative achievements in certain scientific and technical areasthrough their systematic study and research training. Therefore, we can see thatgraduate education is essentially an "innovative education", innovation is a key ofGraduate Education. Encouraging students to design, to explore, to practice, and toinnovate based on their own thinking should be the main direction for postgraduatetraining. For Harbin Institute of Physical Education as a sport education university, itsmost important task is to educate and develop high-innovative and high-qualitygraduate students.Constructivism Theory is regaining attention under these broad circumstance andsituations described above. Constructivism is a learning concept with a unique insight.It believes that "learning should not be seen as the passive acceptance of knowledgetaught by a teacher, but the students’ initiative building activities based on theirexisting knowledge and experience" In other words, the students’ learning process is aprocess that under a situation created by teachers, students build a new knowledgestructure based on their existing knowledge and experience through active explorationand positive communication. It advocates the learning process is a process thatstudents actively construct their own knowledge and experience, and a process thatcontinues to enrich and transform their existing knowledge and experience through anew experience interacting with the existing knowledge and experience. It emphasizeslearning initiative, practicality, creativity and social aspect, and proposes many newideas and insights for learning and teaching. Constructivism Learning Theory hasfar-reaching impact and positive meaning to many aspects of education.Using literature review, interview, observation, logical analysis and otherresearch methods, and combining with relative situations Harbin Institute of Physical Education encountered in their education, this dissertation introduced ConstructivismTheory into the theoretical teaching of Harbin Institute of Physical Education, andproposed reasonable suggestions and inspiration to the current theory and methodused in Harbin Institute of Physical Education. In addition to the introduction, thisdissertation is divided into the following parts: The first part, it described researchbackground, purpose, significance, specific research methods and related concepts.The second part, it covered the basic views of Constructivism Theory, ConstructivismTheory Teaching Models, and the basic principles of constructivism. The basic viewsof Constructivism Theory are the Constructivism view of knowledge, Constructivismview of learning, Constructivism view of teaching, and Constructivism view ofteachers and students. Constructivism Theory Teaching Model mainly includesinteractive teaching model, teaching cognitive apprenticeship model, anchoredinstruction model, and problem-solving teaching mode. The basic principles ofConstructivism are: the principle of student as main part, the principle of the sceneactivities, and collaboration and conversation principle. The part also described howthe teachers who teach the theory classes in Harbin Institute of Physical Education touse Constructivism theory in their teaching and play a role. The third part, it describedthe study’s conclusions, and how the Constructivism Theory plays an active role inteaching the theory at Harbin Institute of Physical Education. Combining the currentstate of the theoretical teaching at Harbin Institute of Physical Education with theactual situation in teaching, it also provided relevant proposals about inspirations thatConstructivism Theory can bring to theoretical teaching for graduates at HarbinInstitute of Physical Education. It includes: recommended prerequisites, curriculum,the most appropriate time to carry out at the graduate level, and economic aspects forimplementing Constructivism Theory in theoretical teaching for graduates at HarbinInstitute of Physical Education.
