Scaffolding instruction is a kind of teaching mode based on constructivism theory. Scaffolding instruction emphasizes student-centered, teachers assist students to learn. The other theoretical basis of the scaffolding instruction is the zone of proximal development (ZPD). The so-called "scaffolds" means the teacher provided a series of help aims to make students pass through the zone of proximal development successfully. Teachers create the scene as students’ real life, and stimulate students’ learning interest, and then set up suitable scaffolds for the students to learn. Through independent thinking and discussion, students independent complete the learning task, and finally achieve the learning goals. This teaching mode can find a balance between teaching and learning, and create a student-centered democratic classroom to improve the classroom efficiency. This teaching mode fully meet requirement of establish new type Geography teaching under the background of new curriculum reform.On the basis of literature analysis, this study integrate the characteristics of junior high school Geography teaching and in the process of teaching practice, summed up several steps to build scaffolding instruction in junior high school:1.Create situation to stimulate students’learning interest. Create teaching situation which closely related to students’ life, make students interest in learning, stimulate students’ learning motivation, and then improve the classroom efficiency.2.Build learning scaffolds to help students’ learning. Make a concrete analysis of students’ zone of proximal development and build different according to different zone of proximal development of students. And ensure students learning along the scaffolds. The main forms of scaffolds are graphs, charts, questions, multimedia forms etc.3.Students’ independent exploration and collaborative learning. Through independent exploration and team collaboration learning about the scaffolds problems, students can construct new knowledge independently through the old knowledge, and achieve the learning goals.4.The effect evaluation. The valuation of the classroom learning effect after the course is mainly by classroom contact. Through the assessment of the classroomlearning effect to preparing for the next class.The author through analysis of test results and the statistic of questionnaire in the experimental class, and then analyze the result of apply scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography class and get the following conclusions:1.Scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography teaching is feasible. The questionnaire indicated that most students give high praise to scaffolding instruction, in other words scaffolding instruction is popular in junior high school Geography teaching2.Scaffolding instruction has realized the modern education idea which student-centered and teachers assist students to learn. Scaffolding instruction is a student centered teaching method, well embodies the requirement of Geography curriculum reform to Geography teaching.3.Scaffolding teaching method is beneficial to stimulate students’ learning motivation and improve student achievements. Through the analysis of questionnaire, scaffolding teaching can stimulate students’ learning interest. The students’learning result in experimental group is better than the control group which indicates that the scaffolding teaching method could improve student achievement.4.The application of scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography classroom can strengthen the student’s learning skills and cultivate the students’ learning quality. Through the use of scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography classroom teaching, students’ can complete knowledge construction by themselves. When the students carry on the knowledge construction, the students’ abilities of Geography learning is also trained. At the same time, because of scaffolding instruction class is democratic, so the students’ learning quality improved unconsciously. The application of scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography teaching has obvious promoting effect to the achievement of three-dimensional teaching target.The application of scaffolding instruction in junior high school Geography teaching can promote the Geography teachers’ quality. Scaffolding instruction, fully meet the requirements to building opening Geography class. In this class, students really become the main body of class teaching, and teachers as an auxiliary part in students study must be able to cope with all the problems in the students Geography learning. In order to meet the needs of the class, the teachers must improve their own quality. So scaffolding instruction is really make teachers grow with their students.
