Operation is an important part of mathematics course, it occupies a large proportion in the mathematics compulsory education stage. The compulsory education curriculum standards requires that students should understand the meaning of fraction, master necessary operational skills and calculate accurately in the second period of primary school. skilled fractional multiplication and division operation is not only a basic skill of the Grade five students, but also an obstacle to them. If students can not master the fractional multiplication and division operation well, they will learn difficultly in four mixed computing, fraction applied problem and percentage. Therefore it is an urgent problem to analyze the types and reasons of fractional multiplication and division calculation errors.First the writer studies on the related paper of children cognitive theory, calculation error theory, primary school calculation teaching theory and primary school mathematics curriculum and teaching theory. Secondly the writer determines the content of investigation and the survey method, and selects the primary school fractional multiplication and division test as the research tool. The test is done in grade five of Shenzhen Guangming district experimental primary school. The writer uses questionnaire method to count the error types, analyze the reasons of errors, understand the thinking process and put forward the solution strategy.This paper obtains five main conclusions. First, the error rate of fractional division is higher than fractional multiplication. Second, the error rate of fraction that can be made common denomination more times is relatively higher. Third, the error rate of mixed fractional multiplication and division is relatively higher. Fourth, the fractional division error is relative to fractional multiplication error. Fifth, the students own factors such as Cognitive level, thinking characteristics and emotional characteristics have influence on the accuracy of problem solving besides the problem itself.
