A large number of studies have shown that the physical activity enjoyment is acontirbution to the internal motivation of teenagers in participating in sports activities.《Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale))(PACES) was oirginally worked out byKendzierski&De Carlo, which had been studied and revised by many scholars andtranslated into various versions. It is an effective tool abroad special for physicalactivity enjoyment. In this study, the reliability, the validity and the quality ofentires in PACES had been testiifed,and the scientificness and the rationality ofPACES had been examined by measuirng physical activity enjoyment of juniormiddle school students in Shanghai. In compairson of the physical activity enjoymentscale between different sexes and ages of junior middle school students in Shanghai,and in measuirng influences of different teaching mateirals and methods to students’enjoyment scale by the use of expeirmental means inventory, evidences had beenprovided for PACES promotion and especially for its practice in schools’ physicaleducation evaluation.Literature, questionnaire and mathematical statistic had been applied in thisstudy, to assess the quality of entires, the reliability, the structure validity and thediscirminant validity in Chinese version of PACES. Respondents were junior middleschool students in Shanghai.951of all questionnaiers were valid andqueatioiinaire-reclaiming effective rate is92.24%. Expeirmental scalcs had beeninvolved in empiircal study of the physical education in schools, in which subjectstwere the9h grade students from a middle school in Shanghai. The physical activityenjoyment of middle school students, who were taught by same mateirals but differentmethods and by taught by different mateirals but same methods had been measured inthis thesis.The study result as follow:? The correlation between each entry and total scoreis0,663to0.861. There are great differences between high score group and low scoregroup. The distinguish between degrees is obvious.②Coronbach’s coeiffcient a inPACES is0.957. The reliability coeiffcient of two parts are all bigger than0.9by test of split-half coeiffcient, which shows that the Chinese version of PACES possessed agood reliability.③By the correlation analysis with POMS, it shows that an obviousnegative correlation between the score of PACES and negative emotional dimensionin POMS.(4) Both the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysisshow that the model fitting degree of PACES is relatively high, the factor loadingsmeet the requirement and none of items should be deleted or revised.⑤Comparativeanalysis of sex and age show that the enjoyment scale of boys is signiifcantly higherth,an girls,and enjoyment scale decrease with increasing grades. However, there areno significant differences between other grades in addition to grade nine.⑥Studentstaught by game teaching method have an obviously higher enjoyment method. In thepractice teaching method, both boys in basketball classes and girls in volleyballclasses have an obvious enjoyment than in endurance running they have. Expeirmentsshow that PACES can verify effectively the enjoyment scale of students in PE classes.This study result is a support to the reliability and the validity of the PACES inChinese version. The scale can meet the requirements of Psychological measurement.It is reasonable for promotion of PACES. The other influential factors of enjoymentscale of students in PE classes will be studied by PACES in the future.
