With Chinese higher education transforming from elite education to popularization stage, more and more young people get the chance to receive higher education and the number of college graduates is growing day by day. But with China’s economic transformation getting into the stage of storming fortifications, the problem of employment has become more obvious. Under the background of the social development, Chinese college students’ employment situation is increasingly worse than before, and more and more college graduates are facing the problem of employment. In order to alleviate college graduates’employment pressure, the country and the government introduced some policy hoping to promote college students’ employment. Although college students’ employment problem has eased in some degree, it is still severe. More than half of the university graduates were in the unemployment status. Human Resource Market demands for talents are changing, and students with high academic qualifications and high work skills also find it difficult to find a satisfactory job upon graduation. In such a big talent enviromnent, certificate examination, training trends emerge at the historic moment.By deeply interviewing with15respondents, questionnaire investigation of229students in U University from September to October of2013, this paper discusses the reason of "certificate examination" group and analyzes the action’s consequences so as to have a deeper understanding of the present situation of the current employment of college students based on the rational-choice theory.This paper first explains the research background, reviews the present study status, makes a literature review, and describes the meaning of the research topics and the study method as well as the analytical framework. Secondly, the basic situation of the interviewers and their characteristics are briefly summarized. Thirdly, using the rational choice theory respectively explains resources control, benefit orientation, social value system’s influence on the action. Finally, the thesis analyzes the result of certificate examination on college graduates, their family and society and makes some suggestions from social, college, college students’perspective.As a result, this paper mainly draws the following conclusions:(1)The "Certificate examination" students have some characteristics, occupation planning is not clear. (2) In college students,"Certificate examination" action, the scarcity degree of personal resources has great influence on the action, so they try their best to take effective means to get and control more material capital, human capital, and social capital in order to enhance their personal competitiveness to achieve their targets.(3)In college students,"Certificate examination" action, profit is the driving force of the action. The graduates choose "Certificate examination" because of the different benefits.(4)Social values (examination requirements of civil servants and staffing of government affiliated institutions) have important influence on university students "Certificate examination" action.(5)"Certificate examination" action achieved the purpose of actors, which is conducive to the smooth implementation of college students occupation planning and cause certificate flooding, the waste of educational resources.
