On the basis of a collection of all times typical education work involveself-education thought in the history of Chinese, including record by the educatorsand education researchers, the research present the evolution of Chineseself-education thought in sprout stage, the object construction stage, the main bodycomprehensive development stage and social stage. Conclude the content separatedon time development and the point of "self-education".Analyzing the performance,characteristics, significance and dimensionality of thought, elaborate the basicthinking and the starting point of the contemporary Chinese self-education. Comparedwith subjective education, put forward the suggestion on adjust the current educationmode, and try to build an construction in curriculum and teaching ideas.This paper uses literature study method and historical study method as the main research methods. It enriches and completes the theory of the pedagogy research of individual development, under the thought of philosophy in education. It provides the scientific decision-making for the school’s teaching reform, and promotes personal ego education, the national lifelong learning, constantly improves the national quality and the ability to learn, to use and to createknowledge, provides theoretical basis for building a learning society in our country. Besides the introduction and conclusion, this thesis is divided into three parts:The first part is the clue of Chinese self-education thought in history. Accordingto the characteristics it summarizes the performance, characteristics, significance andvalue in each stage.The second part is analyzing on dimensions of Chinese self-education thought inhistory. On the premise of historical analysis, it forms a system of philosophy,involving value theory, object theory and contents’ theory, respectively discussingwhy need self-education thought, who will use self-education and what will be donein the self-education.The third part is the thinking on self-education in contemporary China. It isbased on the historical and philosophical analysis, explore the starting point andeducation purpose, rebuild a curriculum and teaching reform.This article innovation lies in for the first time stripping out the self-educationthought, and summarizes the theory of periodic characteristic on the basis of Chineseeducation thoughts; For the first time discuss Chinese self-education thoughtcharacteristic from the perspective of philosophy; Standing in the height of the historyand reality, solve the problem of self-education in practice, and put forward thepresupposition for the future development direction. In addition, the definition ofself-education’s concept, the fusion of self-education and teacher education, and theself-education’s evaluation system needs to be further explored.
