Since21st century, the comprehensive national power competition has graduallybeen transformed around the core of technology development and human capital withthe rapid development of the knowledge economy, the increasing acceleration ofglobalization and the fierce competition among countries in the world.Highereducation, as both an important factor for speeding the national economy and animportant manifestation of the comprehensive national strength, functions asproviding personnel, driving force of science technology, social services and soon.Therefore, promoting the popularization of higher education is an importantmeasure devoting to increasing the economic and overall national growth.With theprogress and development of society and economy, and the continuous improvementof people’s income and living standards, people have gradually increased theirdemands for higher education, leading to its sharp contradiction between supply anddemand. Because of the large population, the government has to bear the heavyfinancial burden of education, as a result its investment fails to keep up with the paceof higher education enrollment. Obviously, public universities overload and finddifficulty in guaranteeing the quality of education, thus private higher educationinstitutions come into existence. Undoubtedly this helps expand wider audience forhigher education and relieve the pressure on public education.However, most privatehigher education institutions mainly focus on various training and few of them haveoffered academic education.Apparently, there is a big gap between people’sexpectation and the quality of higher education due to the problems of too low level,small scale, too few majors and lack of sustainable development.This paper takes the development strategy of T Independent Colleges as theresearch object, applying strategic management theory and management tools andmodels. Through systematic analysis of the external environment and internalresources of T Independent Colleges, it studies and formulates feasible developmentstrategies based on its own characteristics. Meanwhile, since the difficulties andconfusion T Independent Colleges face are universal, hopefully this paper has some certain reference significance for the specification and healthy development of otherindependent colleges.This paper covers the following aspects:In the first chapter, the topic selection background, significance and content areintroduced, what’s more, the research ideas and methods are proposed. The practicalsignificance of studying and establishing T Independent Institution developmentstrategies is illustrated based on the current needs of the market economy and thepeople’s rising demands, as well as the development status of higher educationindustry etc. Finally, a brief overview of the research contents is followed.In the second chapter, the strategy-related theory is illustrated, together with andintroduction of the concept, characteristics, and features of both about independentcolleges and strategies, and the strategy classification.The third chapter describes the basic situation of T Independent College. Itpoints out the main present problems of the college, which means analysis ofconditions concerning the Independent College. By using SWOT matrix, it analyzessome opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses, etc., so as to formulate andchoose the proper overall strategy for the development of T Independent College. Inline with the principles of seizing opportunities, avoiding threats, developing strengthand overcoming weaknesses, the competitive strategies are chosen and worked outfurther for the T Independent College on the basis of the overall strategy.The fourth chapter, according to the development strategy made for TIndependent College, proposes the ways and measures to carry out for thedevelopment strategy, combining with the actual situation of the college.Chapter V, lays down the measures of safeguard for carrying out thedevelopment strategy of T Independent College.In the sixth chapter, a full conclusion is made. That is, the author explicitlysuggests that T Independent Colleges should should adopt growth strategy orgrowth-oriented mixed strategy as its overall strategy and competitive strategyfocused on differentiation.
