As one of the important methods of ideological and political education, the moral narration is also a vital medium for educators to help improve educates’ ideological and moral level. Traditional methods, such as dredging education method,comparative education method, typical education method, self education method and motivation education method, still have serious problems though they all have their different advantages. Therefore, it is necessary to seek for a new method, which can make up for the shortages of those traditional methods. The moral narration can be seen as a timeless moral education method which tries to integrate the abstract ideology and morality into the actual social events. It has special advantages and features and can make the educates understand the hidden ideology and morality when they listen to the vivid reports of those events. In other words, it is a kind of method that can exert a great influence on people in a subtle way.The thesis, methodologically, follows the guidance of Marxism theory and adopts Marxist standpoints, opinions and methods. It, in perspectives of the existing theories and current studies, mainly explains the application and value of the moral narration, analyzes its definition and characteristics and illustrates how to put the moral narration into actual use. The thesis, by means of documentary research method,comparative research method and comprehensive research method, aims at renewing the existing methods of ideological and political education and then finding a new and more effective way to reach the goal that has been set for the ideological and political education.The thesis, in content, firstly elaborates many related studies both at home and abroad in a great detail. The author, from what he reads, can conclude that the angles of these current studies about the moral narration are limited, the objects are not clear and the strategies for its application in the ideological and political education are not specific enough. Besides, the author also states the definition, features and evolution of the moral narration in the field of ideological and political education. A detailed explanation of the important roles that the moral narration has played in reaching the goal of ideological and political education, developing new concept of subject and speeding the process of internalization and externalization of morals has been given in this paper as well. Likewise, the author also analyzes and summarizes the applicationstrategies of moral narration that have been used in teaching and learning ideology and morality, in inheriting our traditional moral narration and in strengthening the online ideological and political education. In addition, some problems that might appear in the application of the moral narration in ideological and political education have been listed in this paper as well as an overall elaboration of the application of moral narration.The thesis, based on the former theoretical and practical studies, makes a further exploration towards the application and value of moral narration in the ideological and political education. It is found that those traditional ideological and political education methods all have its own advantages, but they still have a lot of limitations.Although many researches about the moral narration have been done including its value, functions, the strategies of application and some existing problems in application, they are still lacking in further studies and the objects are not very clear and definite. Compared with dredging education method, typical education method,comparative education method and self education method, the researches on the moral narration are less thorough and complete. Thereby, in order to cultivate acceptable socialist construction talents with a high sense of morality and ethics, we should further explore and develop the potential value and application strategies of moral narration in ideological and political education, thus making the moral narration a new method complementary to the former ideological and political education methods.Meanwhile it also provides a new way to achieve the goal of ideological and political education.
