A mind map is a graphical tool for thinking. It uses graphics, color and lines synthetically and expresses thinking in the brain visually. The mind map uses the skill of paying attention to both pictures and articles and displays the relationship between various topics with mutua l subjection and manifested related hierarchical graph. Connect the theme keywords with image and color in order to build memory link. As a result, it can promote our left brain and right brain in collaboration. Combine the effective combination of image thinking and abstract thinking effectively. It can improve memory effect and stimulate more inspiration. Based on the above characteristics, studying how the mind map applied to the importance of the junior middle school biology teaching will become prominent.This paper mainly uses the method of theoretical research and empirical research. It carries on the research on how to use the mind map strategy in the junior middle school biology classroom and how to improve students’ learning interest and grades. In the part of theory research, it discusse d about the domestic and overseas situation of the application of mind map in teaching theory. The part of empirical study, it carried out the learning of mind map in the biology curriculum of junior middle school classroom and the application research of after- school review. It also collected the related data of the experimental class and the contrast class. It analysed the changing degree analysis of students’ interest in learning, learning methods and learning effect etc.The results of this study show that: 1 The mind map consists with the junior high school students’ cognit ion. Moreover, its rich and colorful forms can promote the students’ learning interest in the biological scie nces. 2 The unique way of thinking can promote the students’ understanding and the utilization of biological core concepts so that they can improve their academic marks. 3 Through the drawing of the mind map, it can fully mobilize the students’ all kinds of sensory and thinking and promote the students’ comprehensive use of various learning strategies, which improve the learning effect. 4 Mind mapping is for students of different scale,there are some differences amo ng stimulative effect.Through practice, the author found that the mind map in classroom summary, recitation, etc have widely used, can help students to develop in mind mapping graph based information processing mode of thinking, and can be used as a teaching auxiliary tool design. But the production of a mind map to the students’ innovative ability and painting skills, the demand is higher, the overall takes longer, is this need to solve problems in the practice in the future.Through the study of mind map, it can promote the research of junior high school biology teaching. It can also provide rich materials for the research of mind map. It changes the present situation of the junior middle school students to learn biology, cult ivate interest in learning and optimize the learning strategies. For the application of mind map in the field of teaching, it can do the preliminary exploratory work.
