In September,2012, Shandong University issued "Shandong university Twelfth Five-year Plan of reform and development", which proposed to build the green university and promote ecological civilization. This also means to conform to the development direction of ecological civilization and construct the harmonious "green culture" between man and nature. To investigate the status of green university construction of Shandong University, this paper mainly uses the methods of questionnaire, mathematical statistics, analytic hierarchy process and site visits, expert advice and information retrieval. By the summary, screening and sorting of 2008--2014 year inventory program of Shandong University, we got the first-hand green education courses situation. At the same time, by visiting logistics department, public security department and other departments, we also acquired energy conservation measures and results in the green university construction of Shandong University.This article summarizes the measures that Shandong University have taken in the creation process of green university, which divided into green planning, green campus, green management, green education and green talents cultivation. For green planning, Shandong University has established the goals to build green campus and promote ecological civilization in the Eleventh and Twelfth Five Year Plan. For green management, Shandong University had carried out the office automation system since 2014. On the other hand, remarkable results have achieved in sound responsibility system, energy reform, implementation of science and technology of energy-saving and comprehensive implementation of sophisticated management. For green education, Shandong University had gradually promoted the green education and strived to improve students’ green consciousness and green literacy, including classroom instruction and extracurricular practice. Classroom education for college students was achieved through the controlled election of courses. Community activities are the main carrier of green practices and school social practice of environmentally friendly activities were well funded. By these measures, green talents were ultimately cultivated.Although Shandong University has made considerable progress in the construction of Green University, inevitably there are some problems at the same time. For example, a lot of related work was operated independently by different department and lack of unified planning, which was not truly "green." In terms of curriculum, there are many issues such as fewer types of education programs and uneven distribution of campus. Finally, this study predicted the impact of construction of Qingdao campus for green university and emphasized the central role of environmental science and engineering schools for green education and green talents training.
