Ginling College was a famous girl’s university in Chinese modern history of higher education. It didn’t only create a new situation of girls’ education but also made a significant influence on the modernization of higher education in China. The foundation and development of Ginling College coincided with the period of the violent conflict of the modern culture in China.Ginling College was founded not only promoted Chinese women to accept the level of the school education, and enhanced the modernization of China’s higher education development. Western Christian missionaries saw that China does not have higher level education for women at that time, hoped to establish a university for women that could become China Women’s University Demonstration School in the Yangtze River, and then created Ginling College in Nanjing in 1915.The establishment of Ginling College greatly impacted the traditional Chinese education system,in its 36 years of educational process; constantly have a collision with the concept of Chinese traditional culture. This article from the perspective of cultural conflict to study Ginling College,in theory, to reveal our country than in the West with a much shorter time to achieve the modernization of university education provides a new perspective to the reasons, and provides guidance significance for the current university reform in practice.In terms of cultural conflict between the East and the West, Ginling College paying equal attention between Chinese and English idea, makes the students’ academic standards at higher level, objectively to facilitate the communication between Chinese and the western; Ginling College emphasis on creating a Christian atmosphere, at the same time, the Christian doctrine of dedication, love the concept of sublimation to serve social practice, emphasis on practice patriotic concept; the Chinese and the western teachers who come from different ethnic and religious, running in a harmonious harmony model in the conflict, working together in a great cause to provide the best education for Chinese women. Therefore can not simply regard Ginling College as "imperialist aggression against China cultural weapon", it is much more play the role of a medium of communication between Chinese and western culture.In terms of the cultural conflict between men and women, produced highly qualified female intellectuals, and strengthen the consciousness of the group of women; broke the public on the“wife and mother” type of traditional role expectations, discipline students based on the community as career women; and faced the challenge of the society, even in the face of the wave of co-educational storms and other disputes also insisted on female characteristics of running a school. Ginling College is a Christian university with the tenet of missionary limitations, but in the process of western learning, also for China’s modern history to make a contribution to higher education can not be forgotten. Today, its successful experience in education still provides valuable historical resources for the reform of the current higher education in China.
