| Kindergarten convention refers to those basic behavior rules that children need to follow in daily preschool life. Abiding by conventions contributes to adapting to nursery life, developing good habits and conducting comfortable activities. The convention of musical activities in this study refers to those basic behavior rules that children need to follow in preschool collective musical activities. Good routine not only helps kids fully experience and express music, but also ensures a successful musical activity. This paper uses literature, observation and interviews to study the convention of musical activities in a middle shift of the kindergarten. This study has shown that universal conventions exist in musical activities, such as action with music signal, good spatial awareness, careful listen and observation. However, children not only need to comply with the universal practice, but also need to comply with the specific practices in singing, rhythmic and percussionist activities. In singing activities, children need to listen to the teacher and companions singing quietly, making their voices harmony with collective singing as much as possible. In rhythmic activities, children’s action should be based on music. They need to cooperate with peers moderately and observe the demonstration attentively. In percussionist activities, children need to use instrument properly; take good care of musical instruments; play unarmed first and then play with musical instruments; see atlas and command to make a harmonious and orderly collective play. This study suggests that conventional education should focus on the early childhood development of subjectivity, self-discipline and self-management, rather than the teacher’s external authority. The research mainly analyzes the necessity of each routine and teacher’s corresponding strategies combined with specific examples of musical activities carried out in the middle class. Finally, this paper makes recommendations from the terms of convention establishment in hope that the study can provide some references for the majority of novice kindergarten teachers. |
