The Spread Of Tai Chi In Pakistan

With the increasing development of international cross-cultural communication,Taijiquan gradually gained the world’s recognition and appreciation with its unique socialvalues and effects of health enhancement and practical protection. Although Taijiquan hasbeen substantially disseminated and promoted in more than150countries, there is littlepractical research on this international dissemination of Taijiquan. Pakistan has alwaysmaintained a close cooperative relationship with China, and then what is the picture ofTaijiquan spread in this country that is intimately called Our Pakistan Bro by the Chinese?Since there is a lack of related research, this dissertation, based on the unique culture inPakistan, has presented a series of research on the dissemination of Taijiquan in Pakistan. Thisresearch is intended not only to provide with pioneering experience in the dissemination ofTaijiquan in Pakistan, but also to offer support and reference the dissemination of Taijiquan inother countries. The current situation, corresponding strategies and suggestions, which areconcluded after comprehensive analyses, inductions and deductions, will enrich the researchon the dissemination of Taijiquan in Pakistan, support both theoretically and practically theinternational dissemination of Taijiquan, promote its international dissemination, improve theinfluence of Chinese culture and at the same time contribute theoretically and practically tothe construction of China’s soft power construction.This research has mainly adopted the methodologies of questionnaire, interview andobservation.After investigation, it is found that the dissemination of Taijiquan in Pakistan is not veryoptimistic, being at the preliminary level and this is due to the lack of professional staff,monotonous channels of promotion, and limitations of religion, political environment, andethnic characters. Above all:(1) Kungfu movie is the only way for Pakistanis learning Chinese Kungfu;(2) Nobody knows Taijiquan, as if nobody learn Taijiquan in Pakistan.Through a comprehensive analyses of Lasswell’s5W Theory, the successfuldissemination of Yoga and Karate, it brings forward strategies in terms of adjusting teachingcontents and methods, widening channels of disseminating, and increasing social activities. In addition, this paper highlights the following suggestions: with reasonable timing transformingthe focus of the spread of Taijiquan in Pakistan; developing professional staff and creatingmore opportunities of practice; facilitating the spread of Taijiquan in Pakistan with substantialfunding; policy support; improvement of martial arts ranking and competition systems;improvement of teaching effectiveness feedback system in Pakistan schools; improvement ofTaijiquan promotion products; timely collection of and response to overseas teaching stafffeedbacks; strengthening of the compilation and study of new Taijiquan skills.
