Pattern ability, one of basic mathematical abilities in earlier childhood, which is a bridge to bring children into math world, is helpful for the development of logical thinking ability and improvement of ability of solving problems. In this study, action research paradigm would be adopted to cultivate pattern ability of young children in kindergarten musical teaching activities,and use grounded theory to encode, log obtained information, and then analyze the possibility and effectiveness of pattern teaching activities in the field of music.This study selected a mathematical feature of kindergarten Z as action research base, and selected a class children as research subjects, research design from both horizontal and vertical dimensions, namely, by the same dimensions of the different activities and levels (horizontal dimension) and the same dimensions of diverse deformation at different levels and activities(vertical dimension), diging up the value of " pattern " education deeply in music activities, so as to foster children’s pattern capabilities in finding pattern and using pattern to solve musical problems.The results show that young children are becoming gradually sensitive to teaching activities of pattern, especially to ABAB pattern and "every four" or "Number Five" pattern; young children in the pattern recognition process is often used to count sequence, spatial relationships, geometry and other mathematical strategies; and young children are not affected by the characterization of the material, but objected to the influence of the form in identification of the pattern; young children in cognitive development are limited to the level and individual experience, most of them stays in fine-tuning and expansion stage, and difficult to attain more advanced stage. Teachers have a deeper understanding of pattern and experience the change from the "misunderstood in thought" to "understand in thought, but misunderstood in practice" and finally to "the concept and practice of docking". Based on these findings,researchers put forward educational proposal. Firstly, to establish a correct consciousness of pattern, and increase knowledge about the pattern of PCK teaching. Secondly, to increase the pleasure of pattern’s teaching activities in musical activities correctly and appropriately.Finally, pattern of teaching activities should focus on the level of children and deliver pattern connotation.
