Poverty is one of the most serious challenges in the economic and social development of the whole world. Alleviating poverty is the common action of all governments, as well as the primary task of United Nations Millennium Development Goals(MDGs). China is a developing country with the largest population in the world and has made remarkable achievements in poverty alleviation after more than30years of sustained efforts. However, China still suffers from serious poverty problem. In terms of poverty condition, it mainly distributed in Western China, especially in the minority areas of Western China. These are disaster areas struck by poverty and also the targeted area of a new round of Anti-poverty Action.Based on the grand goal of a well-off society in2020and the great dream of a world without poverty, this thesis takes the perspective of anti-poverty and the orientation of poverty alleviation and development of minority areas, and adopts relevant theories from adult education, development economics, regional economics and public policy, and a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the important role of rural adult education in poverty alleviation. More importantly, this thesis takes Nanhua County for example and does systematic case study. The research shows that there are a series of problems in rural adult education hold by Nanhua County, such as inadequate force, low participation, insufficient investment, lack of inclusiveness, weak faculty, unreasonable training projects design. In order to accelerate the end of poverty, kinds of powerful measures should be made. First, strengthen top-level design and make a clear corporative division among various departments. Second, ensure precise force and that all poor people have access to rural adult education. Third, optimize the capital structure and improve the labor force training investment. Fourth, make use of every means and promote the learning passion of poor people. Fifth, break up mindset and increase the reasonability of training projects. Last but not the least, consolidate the power of agricultural technology promotion and improve the efficiency of anti-poverty.
