In today’s colleges, the “stay-at-home” phenomenon becomes increasingly common and there is a growing number of indoorsmen and indoors women. The “stay-at-home” phenomenon highlights the changes in the daily life of college students. This paper mainly explores the origin and evolution of the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students, and analyzes the basic concept, characteristics, causes and influences of the “stay-at-home” phenomenon. Combined with the ideological and political education and and related discipline research achievements, it refines the role of ideological and political education in coping with the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students. From the perspective of linking theory with practice, it proposes the principles and measures to cope with the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students through ideological and political education.First of all, it explains the basic concept of “stay-at-home” phenomenon. The “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students refers to the self-reclusive phenomenon of college students that they keep a fixed stay in a certain enclosed space for a long period, rely on the media such as Internet and are addicted to some activities or things unconcerned with the study or future development; they dare not to face the life in the real world and rarely walk out. Through the introduction of the origin and evolution of the “Otaku”, this paper elaborates the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of domestic college students.Secondly, through the questionnaire survey on the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students, this paper analyzes and introduces the basic situation of “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students. According to the practical investigation and relevant research, it explores the causes for the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students, including the subjective reasons of the group psychology, addiction to entertainment, lack of life planning, and weak communicative ability of college students, and the objective reasons of the Internet popularization, free campus atmosphere, and unattractive campus activities. Then, it analyzes the impact of the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students. According to the ideological and political education and and related discipline research achievements, it summarizes the role of ideological and political education in improving the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students from the perspective of ideological and political education.Thirdly, according to the increasingly common “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students, this paper puts forward some principles and measures to cope with the “stay-at-home” phenomenon of college students through ideological and political education.
