In the rapid development of the economic society background, countries from all over the world emphasize the importance of the useful tools of English language. China and Thailand are constantly revised English curriculum standards of Compulsory education, and the two countries are committed to strengthen education quality. After ten years of the curriculum reform, China awarded the<English curriculum standard of compulsory education (2011 Edition)> and revised the English curriculum standards of 2001 edition. In 2008, Education Department of Thailand issued the<basic education core curriculum A.D.2008>, which replenished the basic education curriculum promulgated in 2001. Therefore, comparing the current English curriculum standards of Compulsory education in China and Thailand has very strong practical significance.This study regards China’s and Thailand’s current English curriculum standards of Compulsory education as the research object, and uses the method of literature and the method of comparison. Based on the general introduction of the development procedure of fundamental education, the development process of foreign language education system and the background of current primary school English curriculum standard of Thailand, the study conducts the comparison research on English curriculum standards of primary school education stage between China and Thailand, and it mainly includes the aspect of the basic framework of curriculum, the aspect of the curriculum targets and grading standards of curriculum, the aspect of the embodiment suggestions of curriculum and so on. The outcome of the research show that there exist distinctions in the integral layout, division of learning period and allocation of class time in the aspect of basic framework of primary school English curriculum, and the distinctions in the construction, contents and value orientation of culture in the aspect of English curriculum objectives of primary school between China and Thailand; The study conducts the specific comparison of grading standards of curriculum mainly from the point of the language skills, language knowledge, cultural awareness, learning strategies, emotion and attitude and the coherent of language and other areas; The study conducts the specific comparison of implementation suggestions of curriculum mainly from the view of the teaching recommendations, the evaluation proposals and the exploitation and utilization of curriculum resources.Finally, based on the above several aspects of presentation and comparison, the study describes the enlightenment on the English curriculum standard establishment of China from the comparison of the current primary school English curriculum standards between China and Thailand. The enlightenment mainly includes:the pragmaticality should be considered when formulates the curriculum standards so as to enhance the pertinence of different learning periods; the formulation of curriculum standards should pay attention to the language used in the classroom and outside; the relationship between English and other courses should be strengthened when formulates the curriculum standards; the formulation of curriculum standards should relax vocabulary demand; the formulation of curriculum standards should clear about the concept and content of theory.
