University enrollment has always been an important part of high education system. Among countries with most developed higher education, America is known for its university admission process that promotes talent diversity.During American university admissions process,the unique way of enrollment of higher education has played a vital role in the development.The United States education adopt the management system of decentralisation.The number of American universities is various,and the level of them is different.Therefore,the diversity of American university enrollment can be seen everywhere.For example,A variety of admission policy, examination method, evaluation criteria and admission process.The diversity of American enrollment is the object of this study. Showing the diversity of American university enrollment,and analyzing the causes of this diversity, we can gain inspiration and develop new university admission process suitable for our national conditions.At present, Chinese university enrollment is based upon the unified university entrance exams. It focuses on students’academic level by evaluating students based on their scores. Such approach becomes biased when test result plays a decisive role whereas students’GPA and special talents are ignored. Therefore, the community, especially the higher education sector, is calling for reforms of university enrollment through the imperative reform of university entrance exam. Reforming university enrollment requires references to foreign higher education systems. From analyzing the successful American university enrollment, we can gain inspiration and develop new university admission process suitable for our national conditions, which would be beneficial for our training of high-quality talents and development of top universities.This essay consists of introduction, body and conclusion:The introduction section offers the topic and thesis of this essay. It explains concepts mentioned in the body, assesses our current research on this topic, and provides the methodology used in my research.The body section consists of three parts. The first and second parts are the core content:part one shows the diversity of American university enrollment through analyzing its admission policy, examination method, evaluation criteria and admission process; part two tries to analyze cause of this diversity by discussing the following aspects:factors within and outside higher education system, and theories factors. Part three summarizes the first two parts, points out the ideas we could borrow, and gives some specific recommendations.The conclusion section emphasizes the advantages of American university enrollment,and the need for our reform of university admissions, and proposes diversified admissions policy referencing to that of America in order to promote diversification in China. However, we have to be cautious and selective while calling for a suitable university enrollment reform in terms of Chinese national condition.
