Human movement coordination is one of the basic human movement abilities. All of the body’s movements contain the factor of "coordination". First, coordination is the premise and foundation of mastering and using movement techniques. Second, it is also one of the important quality indicators of selecting elite athletes and evaluating children’s sports performance. Third, coordinated action is the important foundation to learn and play for children, and it could help to develop children’s good character and self-confidence. Meanwhile, healthy and smooth development of motor coordination provides the conditions for the development of children’s physical and mental health and learning of motor skills.7-12 years old is the golden age of children’s coordination ability development. Therefore, it is very important to make an accurate measurement to find problem and correct it timely.Through literature survey, we find that the main methods of coordination test are behavior observation, investigation, biological feedback and so on. Aiming at the problems of these methods, this study proposed the computer scenario-based method for the measurement of children’s coordination. In this paper, we use Kinect and computer multimedia technology to create a virtual and immersive environment. And five test items was designed according to the test indicator. The user will complete the five tasks in such a virtual scenario and coordination ability will be measured by completing degree of the task. According to the test requirements, we design the natural interactive mode that children will control testing tasks with static or dynamic action to reflect the situation of children’s motor coordination when completing the action. Finally, the five test items were integrated to achieve automated data collection. In order to check out the test’s applicability two trail tests were made with pupils randomly selected in Nanjing. After the first test, the items were adjusted.41 pupils were selected randomly in the second test, and we analyzed the reliability and validity. The results showed that computer scenario-based coordination ability evaluation system has a good reliability and validity, and can applied to evaluate children’s coordination ability. This paper combined the Kinect and the computer scenario-based method to increase sense of immersion and operation of the child, improve the evaluation efficiency, and save manpower and resources. The system can be used for general motor coordination test in family and school and keep track of their development to make training programs. It can also provide a reference for the application of Kinect to other areas of education.
