As the featured instant messaging application launched by Tencent in 2011, Wechat has become the most popular smart phone app with over 600 million users up to now. Also, Wechat is highly appreciated by the college students, most of whom were born after 1990 and are fond of pursuing and trying new things. This instant, interactive, private and individualized app begins to affect many facets of those college students’ life, such as their lifestyles, their habits of cellphone using, their spiritual needs and so on. Meanwhile, colleges and universities begin to establish their Wechat official account and enrich students’life with varieties of services by means of the multimedia compatibility of Wechat. In this network era, the rocketing development of those mobile medias like Wechat has broadened the thinking strategy and brought new challenges to educational management of college students.On the basis of the theory of Scientific Management and the Mass-media Audience and on the analysis of the features and needs of post-90 college students, this paper collects data from students in S University by questionnaires and studies the influence of Wechat on their habits of cellphone using, reading and study, lifestyles and so on, in order to encourage colleges and universities to make effective and purposeful use Wechat to help the management of students and the ideological and political education.This paper mainly analyzes the challenges brought by Wechat to the traditional ways of the ideological and political education, the quality of student affairs administrators, the guidance of students’ the ideological and public opinion and their self-awareness so as to propose the strategic advice of improving college student management by Wechat. To begin with, the new types of media should be well developed and adopted so that they can fulfill their own duties. Second, the teaching methods of ideological and political education should be renewed with different medias and concepts, and by using such instant message app the head teachers and student counselors can also keep a close eye on students life and conduct sufficient communications with them. Moreover, the administrators of colleges and universities should strengthen the maintenance of the official account, improve the quality of ideological and political education and enhance students’awareness of network responsibility, morality and law. And they should also manage under the guidance of Party Committee of Propaganda Department and the student-oriented principle and entitle students to operate the official account by themselves to make it truly serve for students. Lastly, the administrators should push for recessive management on one hand and apparent management on the other, perfect the supervision managerial mechanism of students’ Wechat using and make it closer to students and their life.
