Geographical spatial ability is an important content of geography education teaching, in 1999, our country has introduced a new round of basic education curriculum reform also emphasized to increase, the integration of information technology and classroom teaching. Classroom teaching due to the time limit of the space, don’t direct contact with the observed real geographic things and phenomena, and use the visual AIDS such as models or simulations to present the phenomenon and the change process of things, you can image the shape information of things and change process, causes the student to have a correct understanding of the motion state and laws of things in order to obtain the optimal communication effect, improve teaching efficiency. The author was based on the above reasons, the research based on 3ds Max 3d animation application in geography teaching.This research mainly in modern education, cognitive psychology, education technology, learning psychology, education and communication to support such as subjects, the 3ds Max 3d animation auxiliary theory demonstrates the natural geography teaching in the senior high school; Part of high school physical geographical knowledge and can use the three dimensional animation rendering content to do the corresponding analysis, and by the revolution of the earth and its geological significance as an example, discusses the three dimensional animation based on 3ds Max software development in the natural geography teaching in high school learn production steps and matters needing attention, and doing the empirical research, and gave an analysis and study the teaching effect, the three dimensional animation assisted the advantages and disadvantages of high school geography teaching are analyzed and summarized, the main study results and discussions are as follows:(1) the present situation of the middle school geographical spatial ability education in China is not optimistic; Most part(2) high school geographical knowledge relating to the content and observing objects, and itself is not easy to observe, observe content not available, so using the three dimensional animation show the geography teaching content is very necessary;(3) using the three dimensional animation auxiliary middle school geography teaching, to increase students of directors as an intuitive understanding, help them establish a heart like a map has great role in promoting;(4) to improve the students’ interest in learning, memory and deepen the understanding of knowledge has great role in promoting.(5) the three dimensional animation courseware to further study of the teaching material, clear objectives, targeted animation.
