At the beginning of learning a foreign language, the base of vocabulary is very important for children. Vocabulary is the most important process to learn English. Nowadays most of the students cannot connect the sound, letter and meaning with the words. This makes students cannot understand the sentences and English reading. Students still use traditional methods to recite new words. And some of the students even use the international phonetic system to remember new words, they depend on Chinese spelling to mark words. Most primary school English teachers also lack effective vocabulary teaching strategies. It’s necessary to provide primary school students with simple vocabulary memory method.Phonics establishes the connection between the morphemes and letters, so the students can understand the meaning of word. Students can recite the new words through spelling the words. The research of phonics in China is mainly about phonics promote the teaching of phonological awareness. The study about vocabulary teaching strategies is fewer.At present the research on phonics in China is not perfect enough. This empiricical research is studied in a primary school in Shenyang. The study concludes interview method,literature analysis and the experimental method.We can know the present situation of primary school vocabulary teaching in Shenyang and the existing problems through the interview, and use the experiment to do the before and after test, then compare the experimental classes and the regular class students’ consciousness of spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary choice test scores, we can find out the scores of experiment class are obviously higher than those of regular class’ students, and vocabulary memory effect is significantly higher than that of regular class, then come to the conclusion that phonics can improve grade three students’ vocabulary spelling ability of primary school.We can summary primary school English vocabulary teaching effective strategies in primary school through practical teaching.
