Contemporary famous American philosopher and educator Matthew Lipman is the founder of Philosophy for Children, known as the "father" of Philosophy for Children. Lipman reshaped the education as a starting point to create Philosophy for Children, which not only has a wide influence in the United States, and also is extended to the global scope, the development of Philosophy for Children education and Children’s education idea innovation will produce a more profound value and significance.Lipman attaches great importance to Children in philosophy education, advocated the introduction of philosophy in Children’s life. He stressed that philosophy is closely linked with Children’s daily life, promotes the readable language in philosophy education. Children and philosophy, in his opinion, has the natural relation, whether he can study philosophy or not has nothing to do with age, as long as in the appropriate way for teaching them, we can motivate them to produce philosophy thinking. On the main definition of Philosophy for Children education, Lipman has his own original ideas, in addition to Children, he has regarded its philosophy teachers also as an important subject of Philosophy for Children education, to cultivate qualified philosophy teachers is a prerequisite for successful implementation of Philosophy for Children educationLipman argued that the fundamental purpose of Philosophy for Children education is to teach Children “to think well for themselves”, the achievement of this purpose depends on the following five specific goals of education, including raising the reasoning ability of Children, develop the creativity of Children, promote Children’s personal growth and interpersonal skills, enhance Children’s moral understanding and cultivate Children acquire the meaning of life. Through the achievement of five the goals of education, eventually nurture Children to become "a more ideal, more creative, thoughtful, reasonable people". On the creation of education content, Lipman led his team created a set of complete Philosophy for Children textbooks, namely “IAPC” edition of teaching materials, including a series of Philosophy for Children novels from kindergarten to high school and supporting teachers guidance manual, is the main carrier of Philosophy for Children education. On the choice of Philosophy for Children education method, Lipman especially attaches great importance to the dialogue of“Socrates”and “Community Inquiry” in the philosophy classroom, he thinks that Children can only be received education in conversation, and wisdom in the exploration.Lipman’s Philosophy for Children education thought not only has the important value of moral education, but also plays a more profound meaning and function on laying the Children happiness life, reshaping the education and improving the Dewey’s education philosophy.
