Research On Academic History Of Institutional Research

In the 1980 s, Institutional Research had been starting to get the attention of scholars in our country. The theme and development reflects the trajectory of the development of Institutional Research in China in more than 30 years. The purpose of this paper is to trace the theme and the evolution process of Institutional Research, reveal the characteristics and the inherent rules and explore its significance and revelation for higher education. This paper also can provide reference for development of universities.This research divided the history of Institutional Research in China into 3 stages, that is, the Introduction and Digestion period, the General Exploration period, and the Normative Promotion period. The research launches from the flowing parts. First, use the bibliometric method to analyze the issues from many aspects. Secondly, trace the core theme of each period and explore the trajectory of development. Third, based on above works, characteristics, rule and achievement are proposed.
