Poetry teaching is an important part of language teaching in primary school. It has been highly recognized by the community, schools and teachers. Many schools also put the classical Chinese poetry as an important part of the curriculum of Chinese classics. “The Standard Curriculum of Compulsory Chinese Education” in the edition 2011 presents the teaching objectives of the classical Chinese poetry in terms of different grades. However, studies which focus on the classical Chinese poetry teaching in the middle stage’s grades are rare. So they need scholars and teachers’ more efforts and further study.Firstly, this study will analyzes and develop the necessity and significance of the classical Chinese poetry teaching, and generalize the current situation and the results of previous research in the field of poetry, and summarized its research direction and conclusions. It selects the perspective of poetry teaching of the middle stage’s grades as the study content. Then, the researcher takes questionnaires and interviews to the teachers of the middle stage from the four aspects which includes teachers’ attitude, the preparation of lecture, teaching methods, teaching reflection in the process of poetry teaching and also takes the questionnaires to the students of in four primary schools in terms of the three aspects which include the students’ interest to poetry, the way and the effect of poetry teaching. The researcher finds that teachers in the middle stage’s grades don’t pay much attention on the classical Chinese poetry teaching in the process of poetry teaching and they don’t understand the poetry very well, and neglect the teaching target of this period. Besides, their teaching methods are inappropriate and they are beyond the understanding level of students and lack the deep self-reflection of the classical Chinese poetry teaching. Then, the researcher tries to analyze the current problems and find out the reasons, and conclude and summarizes the measures of problems of poetry teaching of the middle stage’s grades from the main perspective of the teaching, which is to improve teachers’ poetry heritage, to pay attention to the preparation of lecture, and promote the teaching process conducting in order, to optimize the classical Chinese poetry teaching methods and to provide a reference for language teachers with the poetry teaching in primary school.
