The main purpose of educational television is to deliver knowledge and instruct mentality. It is meaningful for us to create aesthetic feeling in the program. The aesthetic character of television screen appears different form as the times and social background change. In the old days, people laid emphasis on perfection and equilibrium. In current times, people lay emphasis on opening, reality and naturalness. All of these result from the changes in taste psychology of audience. Their awareness of participation and ability of thinking and discrimination have strengthened, in addition, then are hungry for knowledge. So they are eager to see open program and acquire the opportunity of equal communication. More and more methods characteristic of popularization and interaction are used in the program, which are appreciated by audience. According to what have been said, we can draw a conclusion that the aesthetic character of television screen doesn simply lie in beauty in shape of screen, and it lie in the unification between content and shape. In short, the concentrating representation of the aesthetic character as to television screen of current educational television is unification between content and form of a program rich in time character. Science and knowledge is the important content of educational television program. In the same time, it results from mental activity and naturalization of mankind. So we should stress importance on the aesthetic of science and knowledge in the program, which can combine science and knowledge with audience. To analyze the screen aesthetic characteristic of educational television program, we shottld take it into account from aspects as follows: Firstly, tastes psychology of audience in modern times. In the open social background, the participating consciousness, the ability to think and debate, and learning wish of audience have increasingly boost up. Thereby, in the invention of television program, characteristic such as popularization, opening and large quantity of information should be emphasized. Secondly, the characteristic of television diffusion in modern times. Television art is characterized as nce across? which tends distinct in current society, so we should take note of brief and prominence. Television has household color, so it should 1 ave amusement function in order to relieve people from intense state. Again, the invention rule of television art is concerned. Movement makes television art distinguished from other arts. It isimportant to create innervation of television screen. Finally, the traditional taste psychology of nationality. The traditional art like novel and drama, which have wide-spread influence, provide us some techniques popularized by Chinese audience, such as narrating method emphasizing story, facticity, enjoyable and expressing color. To see how the screen aesthetic characteristic materialized in the television program, we choose some examples as to the three braces of educational television program, including social education program, science and technology education program and teaching material program. Social education program concerns Echo and to Tell the Truth. In the program Echo, enjoyable disposal is adopted and sound and screen are unified together. To Tell the Truth is characterized as equal regarding and passing information in an easy and natural atmosphere.
