Writing is an important part in junior English language learning and teaching (ELT). For the learning of the junior middle school students, it is at the initial stage and easy to train. The students?writing habits, interests, ways and abilities form easily, which, however, will un- doubtedly influence the effect of language learning. Therefore, teaching writing effectively is ob- viously an important task. Students?writing starts to learn with writing the English alphabets and ends with the ability of writing some simple discourses such as diaries, letters, guided writing within around 80 words and 8 sentences. As for chapter, rhetoric, frame of mind and complicated logic, these means used in senior or advanced writing are not tasks in the junior middle schools. No one has studied these specific problems exsiting in the writing of the students who come from the remote areas of huliang county in Yunnan province. But sometimes they were mentioned and discussed on the local ELT occasions. Moreover, as far as generality of ELT is concerned, many theories, books and practical experience have encounted with ELT?s general characteris- tics, to some individual areas, however, they cannot look into the specific situations and guide the ELT. It is really a tough job. This author will make great efforts to diagnose the major obstacles in the students?writing. And he believes that if the obstacles are found out, they will probably be worked out, which will (it) good to the local hLT. The ways of research will focus on the students?writing work( setting up writing norms and counting writing mistakes and errors), then on questionnaire ( refenng to 31 learning stragedies of affection, memory, recognition and metarecognition, and 6 terms of teaching conditions, 37 terms inside in total. Besides, one open questionnaire goes with the close one), finally on teaching research activity so as to study the writing quality, the exsiting problems and major causes. As a result, the obstacles of the students?writing are proved in lexis and grammar, espe- cially in latter. Which results from the difference between mother tongue and the target lan- guage. Besides, the environment, economy condition and recruitment of students influence the students learning in mental, behavior and quality. Therefore, teachers should start with view of foundation, parctice, affection and teachers?quality. Generality exsits in specificity and specificity reflects generality. This study is supposed to benifit the other mountain teaching. Due to the limited number of samples, however, the value of this study undoubtedly is confined at the same time, which is the author抯 effort to improve in the future.
