Being aimed at the slow steps of populating nine-year compulsory education, Jfow quality of education and instruction, old teaching method and so on, in rural in northwest poor areas, the researcher has cooperated with two primary school teachers to carry out action research on participatory instruction of primary Chinese. The purpose" of this research is: how to use participation instruction in primary and middle schools in northwest poor areas; how to carry out action research in northwest poor areas; and inquiring the effective ways to improve instructional reform in poor areas, and inquiring the effective strategies to speed up the steps of populating compulsory education in poor areas, and inquiring the effective research patterns to strengthen the compulsory education in poor areas, and inquiring the effective research patterns to strengthen the combination between educational theory and practice.In the course of action research, the researcher cooperates very veil with these two teachers. Together we find problems in the actual teaching activities and make strategies to solve these problems. In their practicing Chinese participatory instruction in primary school, the two teachers constantly make self-reflection and assessment on their actual teaching. According to self-reflection and assessment, two teachers practice the new instructional action constantly and revise the question, and then carry out the next plan of action until they understand really the internal ideology of participation instruction. And, at the base of constant practice, the research bears exciting fruits: there is improvement on interest of study, effect of study in class, achievement and self-discipline of study; relationships among teachers and students are better and better; and the level of teachers' major has been developed and unproved; teachers begin to focus on reflection of teaching.Based on the above study, we draw the conclusion that the participatory instruction is an effective way to reform the traditional "spool-feeding way of teaching "It is also an effective means to quicken the steps of popularizing the compulsory education in the poor regions, It helps to promote the development and growth of student, enhances the teaching quality. And the action research enrich the teachers' professional knowledge and improve their practical ability. It is an ideal way to help to combine the teaching theory with the teaching practice. According to the result of research, in this paper, there are some suggestions how to use participatory instruction and carry out action research, and how to speed up the steps of populating compulsory education in poor areas.
