With the development of socialism market economy, higher education is facing a deep revolution. Under this condition, higher education must adapt to it and change its traditional concepts and methods of operating universities and colleges. To become a efficient industry, higher education must use modern marketing theory to manage and operate universities and colleges. This paper is discussed about how universities and colleges use modern marketing theory to adapt to the development of socialism market economy.The first part of this paper discusses the necessity and possibility of higher education using modern marketing theory to manage and operate universities and colleges under the condition of socialism market economy. The second part of this paper analyzes the marketing environment and market condition of universities and colleges according to the marketing theory. The third part of this paper analyzes the product strategy, price strategy, place strategy and promotion strategy of universities and colleges, and discusses the basic principle of marketing strategy of universities and colleges. The last part of this paper systematically review the concepts that discussed in this paper.The results of this paper are based on the analysis of Chinese, American, Australian, European and other countries and areas' concepts of how higher education develop under this revolution, and created by the author.
