The event "gymnastics" is one of the important contents in P.E. classes of junior middle school, so the research on its teaching mode plays a vital important role in achieving the P.E. teaching goal of junior middle school. Through investigation, it was known that at present gymnastics teaching in junior middle school still adopts the traditional teaching mode of "explanation-demonstration" as the main systematical teaching method, adult and competitive gymnastics teaching style still does not change all the time, which ignores the emotional impetus of students' learning interests in gymnastics and leads to the gymnastics teaching unpopular. Considering this phenomenon, the guideline of teaching mode of constructivism---"based on students' development" and "health first" is put forward. The teaching mode of constructivism is a teaching mode of taking students as the principal part. In the whole teaching course, teachers act as the role of an organizer, instructor, helper, adviser and take advantage of those learning environmental factors (background, cooperation, conversation) to bring into play students' enthusiasm, initiative and originality, and finally reach the goal of making students construct the meaning of their current acquired knowledge efficiently.Under the philosophy of constructivism, this research takes the methods of educational experiment, document searching, questionnaire investigation, mathematical statistics, and applies the basic program of teaching mode of constructivism (background setting, questions raising; learning independently, conclusions drawing; cooperative study, conversational communication; teacher'sinducement, concluding and summarizing) and its teaching methods (Scaffolding Instruction, Anchored Instruction, Random Access Instruction etc.) to act as the factors imposed in test group. Through testing, it achieves obvious effects in students' fitness of gymnastics, learning interests in gymnastics, learning style, social adaptability etc.The conclusions are: 1) The teaching mode of constructivism inspires enthusiasm and originality from both teaching and learning, so it makes the whole course of classroom teaching full of vitality. 2) It changes the traditional teaching style by applying teaching style of exploring discovery, independent learning, and enhances students' abilities in discovering problems and solving them. 3) Through the measures of the learning of mutual spotting, assistance and conversational communication, it enhances junior middle school students' ability of cooperative study and active participation, promotes their development of social adaptability. 4) Its comprehensive evaluation based on actions is beneficial to the building of junior middle school students' development of motivation, interests and independence consciousness in gymnastics and the achievement of P.E. teaching goal. So the teaching mode of constructivism should be advocated in gymnastics teaching of junior middle school.
