The new round curriculum reform, which is being undertaken in the elementary and middle schools all over China, aims at establishing the so-called learners' development-oriented concept by abandoning the traditional teacher-centered methodology. Accordingly, the new curriculum criteria advocates the instructions based on learners' previous experience and knowledge, and promotes self-access learning and cooperation and exploration process in the classroom instructions so that the learners can develop themselves actively with the teachers' guidance and help, not only in knowledge learning but also in ability.Similarly, the constructivism, as a leading learning and teaching theory in western countries, stresses that the learners gain the knowledge and develop their ability by exploring and discovering and constructing. Obviously it also focuses on the importance of the learners' role.Firstly the study analyses the disadvantages of the traditional math teaching practice in middle schools, and then puts forward the new concepts that instructors should have in mind to commit their teaching. It also takes account of the basic principles of the constructivism and classroom activity models. The research gives a strong evidence that it is better to apply constructivism theory to classroom practice with a consideration of teenagers' cognitive characteristics and it helps raise the learners' interest and awareness in active exploration and cooperation and thus it's better for the students' ability in cognition and problem-solving. At last, some limits are mentioned by the author in hope for a better prospect in the future research.
